Palmyra/Newark: Entered into rest on May 17, 2016 at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her husband, Elwood Verbridge; parents, Jacob and Hermine DeMay; brother, Nelson DeMay; sister, Madeline VanderMallie and a niece, Cheryl VanderMallie. She is survived by her children, David Vankouwenberg of Rochester, Donald Vankouwenberg of FL, Mark (Sylvia) Verbridge of Palmyra, Irene (James) Wiedenbeck of Williamsville; grandchildren, Cindy, Stacy, Katie, Kassandra, Sabrina, MJ, Katrina and Nicole; several great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William VanderMallie; and nieces, Deb Blazey and Sandra Wagner. Shirley graduated from Marion High School in 1950 and was a member of the Palmyra Fire Department Auxiliary for many years.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service, Monday 1 PM at Stevens Funeral Home, 3896 Buffalo St., Marion, NY 14505. Interment will be in the Marion Cemetery.
