Jean E. Sanders

WAYNE COUNTY, NY: Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 28, 2023 at Rochester Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Jean was born on March 20,1944 in Carthage, NY the daughter of Roy W. Willmert and Harriet J. Oatman. She is predeceased by her sons, Norman W. (Butch) Merritt, David J. Merritt; brother, Reginald J. Willmert; parents, Roy and Harriet Willmert; her cat, Patches. Survived by her children, Deborah (Spike) Klahs, Jennifer (Mike) Myers, James (Elizabeth) Merritt, and Shawn (Crystal) Sanders; sister, Cynthia Cleland; beloved cat, Marshmallow.


Jean attended Carthage Schools and later went back for her GED, LPN and RN license. She was a nurse at Crouse Hospital for many years, then left to do in home hospice care where she was loved and adored by many families. Jean enjoyed being a nurse, her children, grandkids and family were very proud of her many accomplishments in life. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.


There will be no prior calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA, (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), 5878 East Molloy Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211.
