Stone, Arthur L.
Marion: Passed away June 7, 2018 at the age of 91. Art was born on
May 12, 1927, to Lynn and Velma Stone of Georgetown N.Y. He was
predeceased by his wife, Shirley Lee Stone. Survived by daughter
Brenda (George) Strickland, Ontario N.Y.; son, Bruce Stone, Marion N.Y.;
brother Clint (Pat) Stone Rochester, N.Y. Step granddaughter Kelley (Steve)
Lasher; step great granddaughters Kate and Emma Lasher of Syracuse,
N.Y. and several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Georgetown High School, Art attended Ithaca College
where he earned a B.S. in Physical Education, and received a Masters
Degree in Counseling from Colgate University.
He taught at Georgetown and Earlville Central Schools before coming
to Marion Central School where he served as Director of Guidance from
1961 to 1986.
Art also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an accomplished
athlete who loved baseball and who also was a talented musician, an avid
gardener, and a lover of antiques.
Calling hours will be held Monday June 11, 4PM till 7PM at Stevens Funeral Home,
